exhibit: 'Fair Use: Appropriation in Recent Film'

detail: 'Fair Use' features works displayed on video monitors in the museum's
lobby gallery. Presenting varied strategies of appropriation and sampling
in film and video from the last decade, the exhibit explores the exceedingly
prevalent redirection and alteration of existing media. These processes
resonate in works by artists who treat media as raw material and who turn
the tools and products of a system of information distribution against
itself. Through May 29th.

detail: Studio tour of Brand New School. Brand New School is a bicoastal
studio of designers, film makers, illustrators and photographers working
in all fields of commercial art. For its creatives, it is a school that
provides an opportunity to learn new things using other people's money.
For its clients, it is a place to spend money to get new things. Call
by Monday, February 28, to reserve your seat. Tickets are $20 and you
can use your credit card to pay. AIGA members will receive preferential
seating. You can only register by phone. No registrations on site. Please
provide your phone number and email address in order to receive timely
confirmation. Do not attend without confirmation as seating is limited.
