In this lecture, Maurice Benayoun will discuss how experiencing virtual reality, creating symbolic "situations", leads us to new understandings of what could be action and creation in the physical world, giving an intrusive and interrogating impact on our architectural, social, and aesthetic environment.
Maurice Benayoun is a transmedia artist whose artwork explores the potentiality of various media from video, to virtual reality, Web and wireless art, public space and large-scale art installations and interactive exhibitions. He is a constant presence at SIGGRAPH festivals and holds numerous international awards. He has been teaching video and media art since 1984 at the Université Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne), and is co-founder and art director of the CITU research center (Création Interactive Transdisciplinaire Universitaire).
