detail: Thirty years ago, graphic artists blinked at the very idea of designing for computer screens. Yet the World Wide Web somehow became the Graphic Designer Full Employment Act. Science fiction writer Bruce Sterling, 2005's "Visionary in Residence" at Art Center College of Design, speculates on over-the-horizon developments with a screaming need for effective graphic design, including tomorrow's medical imaging, social software, locative technologies and ubiquitous computation. Come prepared to confront concepts that the 20th century never heard of.

detail: Best known as the lead singer and founder of the band Talking Heads, David Byrne has been creating visual art, design, photography, and film throughout his effusive 28-year career. His 2003 book project, 'Envisioning Emotional Epistemological Information', uses Microsoft's presentation application as the medium for original visual art, and is accompanied by a unique soundtrack of electronic music. This is a presentation of the project.
