[introduction]
fen-om (all lower-case) is a virtual organization dedicated to the non-profit
diffusion of information. In its Web pages, you will find the following
(in order to enjoy all these, you must be able to access Internet on your
own, paying all fees associated with such access, and must access by using
a computer system capable of such task: computer with modem, for example):
1. Pre-Conferences: Sites dedicated to the
exposition of a specific theme, in depth (pre-conferencia1, for example,
provides information on the architectural theme of housing, while pre-conference2
diffuses information regarding the theme of Teaching English as a Second
Language).
2. Gacetas (Gazettes): Sites dedicated to
the critique of some specific 'Mexican' event (for example, gaceta1 reviews
what was presented at the First Arquine Contest, in architectural design,
while gaceta2 evaluates the happenings at the 6th academic Encounter of
the University of Guadalajara's University Program for Foreign languages).
3. Main Sites (fen-om, fen-om1, fen-om2, fen-om3):
Apart from the principal fen-om site, which deals with orienting the public
within the totality of the 'fenom-enal' pages, the main fen-om sites are
focused on the representation of specific themes, myths, and city-cultures.
At fen-om1, the theme is Theory of Design, the myth is Madrid's Metro,
and the city-culture is Madrid, Spain. fen-om2 deals with the theme of
Virtual Reality, the myth of Digital San Diego, and the city-culture of
Southern California, USA. fen-om3 deals with the theme of Crafts, the
myth of the Villa Duz, and the city-culture of Guadalajara, Mexico.
4. Architectural Sites: These sites were
elaborated in order to represent large architectural projects in the city
of Guadalajara, Mexico. The large scale of the selected works implies
that they are pertinent, not only for architects and urbanists, but for
the entire citizenry (they are already catalysts of great polemic, venturing
into the local political realm and interweaving within the varios communication
media). Examples of these include the JVC Cultural Center, the Arches
of the Third Millenium, and the Millenium Tower.
5. CVs for Young Designers: fen-om presents
a section for curricula, where it publishes professional data of all fen-om
collaborators (if you help us out with something, we'll place your curriculum
on-line, free!).
6. Night Clubs, Ciber-Cafés, and Cultural
centers in Guadalajara: At fen-om, we are interested in diffusing
information on Guadalajara. More and more, some of these sections will
transform into a turist-culture section for Guadalajara, mexico. At the
moment, we begin with descriptions of various night and daytime 'foci'
for public activity.
7. edu: Our organizer, Sandro Alberti, arquitect,
digital designer, reporter, and fen-om representative, is also a teacher
(he teaches English, Architecture, and Graphic Design). He has begun to
diffuse academic information via the edu site (at fen-om3; it includes
course texts, digital evaluations, information database, etc.).
8. Theory Lists: fen-om distributes free
e-lists (in both English and Spanish). They deal with the following themes:
'actual', 'architecture', 'design', 'Nik', 'Sandro', 'tech', 'theory',
'tips', 'web', and/ or 'ZMG'.
9. Contests: Every so often, in order to
popularize our web sites, and thus allow for better diffusion of information
throughout our 'global community', we will hold contests, raffles, etc.
(typically, related to contemporary objects and events). Visit fen-om
every so often in order to review the latest.

is simply re-distributed information, the opinions, facts, comments, references,
